Leaders of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists today issued the following statement in response to the baptism at the Chico Seventh-day Adventist Church of a woman in a same-sex marriage. The baptism received attention as the result of an article in a far-right website. Daneen Akers and Stephen Eyer today released the first installment of a new ten-part series of short documentaries called “Outspoken” that features stories of LGBT+ Adventists. This is the third major project for the husband-and-wife team dealing with the intersection of sexuality, gender and the Adventist faith.
Leaders of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists held a closed-door meeting yesterday with union presidents from the North American Division. The meeting was the first step in a five-part action plan created by the General Conference for dealing with what it views as instances of policy non-compliance.
Adventist Forum will grow this weekend in the Southeastern United States. Ronald Lawson has worked to create a new Forum chapter based in Asheville, North Carolina. Professor emeritus at Queens College, CUNY, Lawson brings with him considerable academic prowess and forty years' experience as president of the Metro New York Adventist Forum.
