1. Adventist pastor Evans Orina died after being stabbed and burned in a mob violence incident in Kaptembwa, Kenya, last week.  He was mistaken for a robber.

2. Weekly Sabbath observance for Samoan Adventists is being disrupted by the government having adopting New Zealand date/time standards in 2011. Churchmembers cannot agree which day is the Sabbath, causing a rift in the church.

3. A Politico reporter writes about his visit to former Maryland Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, 87, who is living off the power grid in a remote part of West Virginia.
