Searching for a President, WWU Proceeds with Two Candidates

The Walla Walla University student paper, The Collegian, reports on the presidential search.

The candidates invited to interview were David Thomas, dean and professor of theology, WWU; Linda Wysong-Becker, vice president for student services at Union College; and Dwight Nelson, senior pastor of the Pioneer Memorial Church and adjunct professor at Andrews University Theological Seminary.

This past Tuesday, Pastor Nelson contacted Torkelsen to remove himself from consideration. Nelson felt that after reflecting on the matter, he is still need[ed] at Andrews University. According to Torkelsen, the other two interviews will proceed as scheduled.

WWU University Board Chair Max C. Torkelsen II said in a statement, “Even as we interview these particular individuals, we are continuing to maintain the ‘active’ list of candidates in whom we are still interested.”
