The Trans-European Division of Seventh-day Adventists (TED) has issued a statement of support and affirmation for women leaders of the church during the division's Year-end Meeting. The division reported that "TED Union Presidents unitedly, regardless of practice in their own Union, wanted to send a strong message of support and affirmation to all women, whether in a local church leadership position, working as a Bible worker or pastor, or serving in an administrative capacity."
Come, for the dusk is our own; let us fare forth together,
With a quiet delight in our hearts for the ripe, still, autumn weather,
Through the rustling valley and wood and over the crisping meadow,
Under a high-sprung sky, winnowed of mist and shadow.
Sharp is the frosty air, and through the far hill-gaps showing
Lucent sunset lakes of crocus and green are glowing;
'Tis the hour to walk at will in a wayward, unfettered roaming,
Caring for naught save the charm, elusive and swift, of the gloaming.
On Wednesday, Novemeber 11, the Franco-Belgian Union Conference Executive Committee met in Paris and approved the following statement, which it released on its website in French. The following translation has been provided for English readers. The original text follows below the English translation. -Ed.
Today we mourn with those who mourn. Nous avons tous le même sang quand nous saignon. We all have the same blood when we bleed.
In honor of all those in Paris devastated by yesterday's attacks, and in solidarity with those refugees who have fled to Europe in search of new lives. Today we stand with them all.
The GODencounters Conference, a ministry that specifically serves Millennials, has announced Steve Case as this year's headline speaker. The following release came from GODencounters co-founder A. Allan Martin, who is also teaching pastor at the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church in Arlington, Texas:
O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow’s wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
Just after the Norwegian Union Conference announced that it would cease ordaining all pastors, the Adventist Church in Denmark stated that it would do likewise. The Danish Union of Churches Conference based in Nærum, Denmark published a statement on its website stating that the Union will suspend the ordination of pastors. The following is the Danish Union's statement in full:
The Norwegian Union Conference Executive Committee has voted to stop ordaining pastors, male and female. The following statement was issued on the union's website:
The Executive Committee of the Norwegian Union voted on Sunday September 20, 2015 to discontinue the practice of ordaining pastors. The action means a change of a previously established practice, but is loyal to the vote in San Antonio this summer not to allow individual world divisions of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to make decisions regarding ordination of female pastors.
