School Reopens in Namibia After 62 Years. Mavuluma Adventist Primary School in Katima Mulilo in Namibia’s Zambezi Region reopened after being closed for 62 years. Restored through the philanthropic activities of Maranatha, officials expect to enroll over 100 students in grades one through three. Jost Kawana, the deputy director in the regional directorate of education, said the school will help the country which needs more space for young students. Pastor’s Life Spared in Chilean Flood. Seventh-day Adventist pastor Rubén Soto-Montaner survived a flashflood that created a mud river, destroying his house and car. Soto-Montaner thanked God for his survival which was being followed by television coverage. The flooding affected 11,000 people in northern Chile and southern Peru. Adventist Development and Relief (ADRA) workers, Loma Linda University medical students, and Pathfinders, are aiding in relief efforts. Stories of Adventism and Homosexuliaty on Stage. A documentary-style drama titled “A Gay SDA Play” by Walla Walla University graduate Bradley Nelson was performed in the Walla Walla area where he was raised. The presentation is based on more than two dozen interviews that explore the real-life experiences of gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender members. Free Health Care in Advance of GC Session. Your Best Pathway to Health, a service of Adventist-Laymen’s Services & Industries (ASI), in partnership with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Adventist Health System, and other entities, will offer a no-cost medical and dental clinic in San Antonio on April 8-10. More than 1,500 healthcare professionals and volunteers will operate the clinic which will provide an estimated $10 million in free health-related services to noninsured and underinsured residents at the Alamodome, where the General Conference Session will be held in July. Florida Hospital Employees Fired for Copying Patient Records. Officials at Florida Hospital’s campuses in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties fired two employees who without authorization printed portions of medical records of as many as 9,000 patients from January 2012 to May 2014. While there is no evidence that the patients’ information has been misused, the hospital notified the affected patients, offering identity theft protection to them.
