Day eight was dedicated to wrapping up some nominating committee name recommendations for General Conference offices and a continued discussion on Church Policy Manual changes.
As the morning began, many were still expressing their opinions over the “No” vote on women’s ordination and what it means for the future of our church.

Though the morning session began at 9:30, many delegates were missing in action. Individuals took note about the missing delegates.

As the business session progressed, one delegate after another took to the mic to express their concern at the lack of representation of women and young adults in the names presented by the nominating committee.

Delegates reached a unanimous decision on one important decision close to their hearts.

In the afternoon, the divisions caucused to select additional leaders. Meanwhile, Spectrum set up a place at their booth for people to write notes of encouragement to women in ministry.

The team was particularly touched by a note from 11-year-old Naomi, who approached the booth all by herself to share some supporting words.

The Netherlands Union Conference released a statement in response to the vote against women’s ordination. It revealed that the Dutch will continue ordaining women.
