Ten Pathfinder Honors to Look Out for at Camporee

Pathfinder Sash with Honors

The much anticipated International Pathfinder Camporee officially begins Tuesday, August 6th in Gillette, Wyoming. For both seasoned attendees and newcomers, earning honors is an excellent way to make the most of Camporee time. This year boasts unique offerings, like Upper Columbia Conference’s Agricultural Technology honor, and Alaska Conference’s Daniel & Revelation-themed escape room, for example.

Whether preparing for the week ahead or following the event from afar, here are ten notable honors that will be available at Camporee:

Women in Adventist History

Women have always been an important part of Christian history and this is especially true in Adventist history. Women were the backbone of the development of Adventism, beginning with the Second Great Awakening, the Millerite movement. One of the three co-founders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Ellen G. White, was a woman and there were many influential early Adventist leaders who similarly took a wide range of roles within the fledgling denomination. This honor will help educate the church about the diverse and influential roles of women in our Adventist past.

Street Art

Learn the history of graffiti and some of the basic terms of street art. Experience some of the street art techniques and participate in a mural painting using spray paint.

Bubbles

Bubbles are not only filled with whimsy – they are also filled with wonder! Marvel at the science behind bubble formation as you explore the hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties of the molecules involved in bubble formation. Then return to the whimsy as you make huge bubbles!

Refugee Assistance Honor

The Refugee Assistance honor provides foundational knowledge for clubs and individuals to help refugees resettling in their communities, equipping them with essential skills needed to make the transition successfully.

Pin Trading

Pin trading has become a Pathfindering tradition. Did you know there are ways to make pin trading more fun and a safe and fun way to get to know people from other places? Upgrade your pin trading game by earning this honor!

Pickleball

Pickleball, one of the fastest growing sports in the USA, is also growing around the world! This honor will cover the basics of the game, and also show how churches can use it for “exercise evangelism”, using it as a way to connect with your community in a fun, social, and healthy way.

Lego Design

Get ready to build, design, and let your imagination soar with the “Lego Design” honor! Whether you’re a master builder or new to the world of Legos, this honor is your ticket to exploring the limitless possibilities of these iconic bricks. From constructing impressive structures to crafting intricate scenes, this honor is all about embracing the art of Lego creation and using Legos for ministry!

African American Heritage

The purpose of this honor is to illustrate how God has led within the Adventist church to share His message through the events, places, and contributions of the people of a specific cultural group.
