Kettering Health Network President to Retire

Roy Chew, Ph.D., president of Kettering Health Network since 2015, is retiring effective February 15.

Chew’s career with Kettering Health Network has included a broad range of roles and responsibilities. He joined Kettering Medical Center in 1976 where he served in various capacities including clinical coordinator for the department of Respiratory Therapy, vice president of Human Resources and vice president of Professional Services for the non-nursing patient care and clinical departments.

In 1999, Chew was named president of Grandview and Southview medical centers following the hospitals’ merger with Kettering Medical Center. Under his leadership, Grandview and Southview climbed to the pinnacle of clinical quality, receiving numerous national quality awards. While at Grandview and Southview, Chew helped establish Montgomery County’s first Federally Qualified Health Center (Community Health Centers of Greater Dayton) and the Victor Cassano Health Center. He also helped establish Kettering Health Network’s first series of major primary care-based outpatient centers.

In 2009 Chew was appointed president of Kettering Medical Center. Under his leadership the hospital opened a Level II Trauma Center; transitioned to a Level III B Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to offer more advanced care to mothers and babies; initiated the plans for the Kettering Cancer Center; and was instrumental the development of the NeuroRehab and Balance Center.
