Weniger Awards

The Charles E. Weniger Society for Excellence invites you to join its virtual Annual Meeting as it honors laureates rheumatologist Ed Krick, Newbold educators Helen and Michael Pearson, and educator Edna Maye Loveless on February 20, 2021 at 4:30 PM PST.

Since the inception of the award in 1974, 184 individuals have been honored serving almost as the equivalent of the "Oscars" for Adventists who have contributed to the church and broader society.

In recent years, the Society has honored thirteen Student Fellows nominated by each Adventist university in Canada and the United States meeting Weniger's traits of excellence in spirituality, academics, civic service, and leadership with a $1,500 scholarship. As part of the virtual meeting, each student will present video words of acceptance and appreciation. This is the only national award given to students from all Adventist universities representing the excellence of Adventist students in a unique award.

Michael Pearson will present the Clinton Emmerson Annual Address on "Excellence: A Reflection." "The Lord's Prayer" will be sung by Anthony Leon, a recent La Sierra University graduate now studying at the New England Conservatory of Music on a "full ride" scholarship. The service produced by the Loma Linda University Church Media Department can be accessed live or watched later at:
