How Long Has Life and Humans Been on Planet Earth?

This presentation will provide a summary overview of some of the current scientific understandings concerning the sequence of events and chronology associated with the geological history of our planet and of the many animals and plants which have lived on earth. It will also consider the nature of some of the current views relating to the development and chronology of human and human-like species. Much of the chronological information has been made possible as a result of the continuing development and increasing sophistication of radioactive-decay based isotopic dating methods.
