Faith and Reason Sabbath School June 29: “Radical Love”

The Faith and Reason Sabbath School meets Saturday, June 29, at 10:00 AM, Eastern. Socializing starts at 9:30 a.m. This Sabbath, Tom Peterson’s title is “Radical Love,” and his presentation is a journey story that starts with his reading of Martin Buber’s I and Thou.

After his encounter with Buber, Peterson, who teaches Critical Theory and Philosophy of Education at University of West Georgia, said he “wanted [his] education students to learn a better way to work with their students than relying on the behaviorist and punishment model which they all knew very well.” So, he began developing a relationship model, Radical Love, to replace the behavior model that they knew. It was of course based on Buber and prompted an essay, “Buber’s Spiritual Classroom.”
