The Faith and Reason Sabbath School meets this Saturday, January 13 at 10:00 am. Socializing starts at 9:30. Rolf Pohler’s presentation is entitled “Psalms of Lament”.
The Psalms are the prayer book of Israel. Beside hate Psalms, perhaps the most challenging ones are the psalms of lament. Upwards of 10 percent of the 150 Psalms belong to this genre. They pose numerous questions about God’s character, about our experience, our religious demeanor etc. Homework! Rolf invites you to especially read and ponder on Psalms 88,44 and 22. He warns us “to be prepared for strong stuff as, together, we’ll try to see if and how these Psalms are expressive of our own thoughts and feelings and what we can possibly learn from them.”
If you’ve attended our class for a while you’ve already know that Rolf Pholer’s careful but spirited presentations are favorites, which is why we invite him back again and again. He is Professor Emeritus of Systematic Theology at Freidensau Adventist University.
