Eric Anderson: “Ellen White: Destruction and Reconstruction” at CZSS

(9:30 a.m. Pacific / 11:30 a.m. central / 12:30 p.m. eastern)

Eric Anderson will present "Ellen White: Destruction and Reconstruction" for the Choir Zoom Sabbath School at Pacific Union College on Saturday, June 17.

The publication of Don McAdams' book Ellen White and the Historians is a potential turning point for Adventism. This long-neglected research could lead to a reconsideration of Ellen White's role in our denomination.

Let's "stipulate" (as the lawyers say) that the historical work of the last half century is basically correct: Ellen White had a context, and her writings were not inerrant or entirely original. So what? If there has been misuse of her writings, what is an appropriate use?

Eric Anderson has been involved with teaching and writing about Adventist history for a long time. One of the creators of an interdisciplinary Denominational History course at Pacific Union College, he has published research on the Millerite interpretation of prophecy and Ellen White's interpretation of race and the Civil War. The founding director of the Walter C. Utt Center for Adventist History, he is now attempting to fill every room in a small, retirement cottage with books
