Ron Graybill graduated in Theology from La Sierra University where he studied under Fritz Guy with the likes of Rick Rice and Jonathan Butler. After getting his MDiv from Andrews University, he pastored in Northern California. Along the way he published Mission to Black America: The True Story of James Edson White and the Riverboat, Morning Star. That book, along with his book, Ellen G. White and Church Race Relations, persuaded Arthur L. White to bring him to General Conference headquarters to assist him in his research for his 6-volume biography of Ellen G. White. While there he gained a PhD in American Religious History from The Johns Hopkins University. But controversy over his dissertation led to his separation from the White Estate.  He went on to edit the Columbia Union Visitor, then to teach history back at Loma Linda University, and finally served as community outreach coordinator for Loma Linda University Medical Center.  More recently Oak and Acorn, the publishing operation of the Pacific Union Conference, republished his 1971 book, Mission to Black America, as well as his 1983 doctoral dissertation, The Power of Prophecy. Even more recently they published his book Visions and Revisions: A Textual History of Ellen G. White's Writings
