Grant for Racial Justice and Equity Awarded to Southern Adventist University

Southern Adventist University has received a $50,000 grant from Lumina Foundation’s Fund for Racial Justice and Equity, a project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, to fund a multi-pronged project addressing racial justice and equity on campus. Project components include recording and sharing oral histories, inviting nationally-recognized speakers to Southern, funding creative student-led programs, and researching the impact of all these efforts on employee and student attitudes.

Southern Adventist University President Addresses Student Concerns

On February 13, the president of Southern Adventist University, David Smith, PhD, released a video statement addressing the university’s black community. In response to questions and concerns raised by students, the video shares Southern’s plans to better meet the needs of its students of color.

Southern Adventist University Findings on David and Goliath Displayed at Museum of the Bible

The findings of archaeology students and professors of Southern Adventist University are currently on display at the brand-new Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C.

Southern Adventist University Nursing Professors Part of Trailblazing Group

Two Southern Adventist University nursing professors were part of the first group of medical professionals in the world to earn board certification in the field of lifestyle medicine. The group includes 247 physicians and health clinicians who are now certified as “Diplomates of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine (ABLM)/American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) and the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine.”

Southern Adventist University Student Found Dead in Dorm

A press release on the Southern Adventist University website announced the death of Kimberly Andreu on Tuesday, March 24. Kimberly's Facebook profile indicates that she previously studied at Instituto Adventista Paranense in Ivatuba, Brazil. According to preliminary findings, her death was the result of natural causes. She was 21 years old.
