Southern Adventist University Student Found Dead in Dorm

A press release on the Southern Adventist University website announced the death of Kimberly Andreu on Tuesday, March 24. Kimberly’s Facebook profile indicates that she previously studied at Instituto Adventista Paranense in Ivatuba, Brazil. According to preliminary findings, her death was the result of natural causes. She was 21 years old.

The release from Southern Adventist University follows:

We grieve tonight for the loss of a young member of Southern’s family.

Kimberly Andreu, a transfer student from Lancaster, Massachusetts, was found unresponsive in her Thatcher Hall room earlier this evening. Emergency personnel arrived shortly thereafter and declared her deceased. The medical examiner’s preliminary findings are that her death was a result of natural causes.

Grief counselors are available on campus. Students may stop by the counseling office in Lynn Wood Hall at any time in the coming days for additional support.

There will be a memorial service to honor Kimberly on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Collegedale Church sanctuary. It is also being broadcast live online at southern.edu/streaming for those unable to attend. Join us is celebrating her life through praise songs, pictures, and a time of sharing.

As we mourn together and seek the peace that only God can give, don’t forget to lift up her family in your prayers as well.

Note: Many sources with knowledge of the situation have indicated that Kimberly had heart problems, which may have played a role in her death.
