LOMA LINDA – Follow @spectrummag on Twitter for live updates on San Bernardino shooting. Multiple news outlets have reported an active shooter in the vicinity of Loma Linda University. Loma Linda University received an undisclosed number of victims of the shooting incident. Reports have come in of over twenty victims of the shooting, and Loma Linda University Medical Center said through a spokeswoman that they are expecting an influx of shooting victims as those injured in the incident are taken from the scene.

The first 911 call came in at approximatly 11:00am reporting a mass shooting. Around 11:30am the San Bernardino County Sherriff Department tweeted that there was an active shooter still in the area of Orange Show Road / Waterman Avenue near Park Center Circle.

San Bernardino and California Highway Patrol officers surrounded the Inland Regional Center building at 13th Street and Waterman Avenue. The Center provides services for individuals with developmental disabilities, including mild to severe autism, in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. There have been unconfirmed reports of a bomb threat at the Center as well. Some outlets are reporting that the San Bernardino County SWAT team is currently involved in a standoff with shooting suspects.

The facility is approximately 3 miles from Loma Linda University. There were no reports of an immediate threat on the Loma Linda University campus, but campus security had taken precautiounary measures to ensure the safety of those on the school and hospital campuses.

A triage center was set up in the 1300 block of Waterman Avenue to care for those injured before transporting victims to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

The incident comes only days after an attack on a health services facility in Colorado Springs. On Friday, November 27, Robert L. Dear Jr. allegedly broke into a Planned Parenthood facility and shot and killed three people there, and wounding nine others.

This is a breaking news story, and will be updated as more becomes available.
