Three Angles News – August 15, 2013

1. An employee of the Federal Aviation Administration, who is a Seventh-day Adventist, is suing his employer and the National Air Traffic Controllers Association union, claiming the union and FAA officials used his religious beliefs to punish him after he resigned from his union. Matthew Gray resigned because he believes union membership is contrary to his faith. After leaving the union, Matthew Gray was informed that he was being transferred to a different detail where he would be required to work on Saturdays.

2. The Preston Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lancashire, England, has been given nearly £200,000 for essential repairs from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The grant will go a long way toward paying for the spire to be taken down and rebuilt. The gothic church, which opened in 1859, was first used as Grimshaw Street Congregational Chapel. It became the Preston Seventh-day Adventist Church in 2005.

3. The Seventh-day Adventist church in Samoa has launched a new project to counter social problems, such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, suicide, drug use, and teenage pregnancy. A project called Open the Door will work with local media toward that end.
