Evolution is your friend
By Alexander Carpenter
“Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D., is the director of the National Human
Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) at the National Institutes of Health
(NIH). He led the successful effort to complete Human Genome Project
(HGP), a complex multidisciplinary scientific enterprise directed at
mapping and sequencing all of the human DNA, and determining aspects of
its function.” Oh, and he is also a Christian who believes in a personal God. And, oh yeah, he also believes in evolution. And by that I mean the scientific kind, not that wishy-washy Gap-creationism.
Adventists, who struggle to reconcile a literal reading of the Bible with the record of science, might appreciate reading his new book, The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief.
For a more substantive discussion of faith and evolution, here’s video and a transcript from the PBS Religion and Ethics interview.
