Loma Linda University Medical Center Called to White House

Loma Linda University Medical Center officials were among representatives from more than a dozen large health care providers called to the White House on Tuesday to discuss improving health outcomes through faith-based and community partnerships.

 

The government is looking for innovative programs that have a record of improving health outcomes, said Mara Vanderslice, director of the Department of Health and Human Service’s Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnership.

 

Invitees were selected on the basis of their reputation for reaching into their communities and connecting with individuals and groups, said Vanderslice and Joshua DuBois, director of the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, during a conference call on Monday.

 

LLUMC was the only hospital represented from the West Coast, said Gerald R. Winslow, vice president of mission and culture from LLUMC, who attended the conference, along with Ruthita Fike, LLUMC chief executive officer.
