Video: Jan Paulsen on Poverty

I think that this goes nicely with our discussion on “Cities of Social Justice from the Sabbath School lesson this week.

“I must not, I cannot, I dare not forget the plight of the poor,” says Pastor Jan Paulsen, world president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

That’s good. But I wish that he would make the broader connection to how our sectarian and economic fears as well as our neo-liberalism generally lead to this sort of extreme poverty. However, I recognize that this is about baby steps.

But I would settle for just one good sermon from a preacher who understands Jesus’ anti-structure of poverty message in Luke 19:11-27
