No, don’t worry, this is not a isolationist call to patronize your local Adventist Book Center, (not that there’s anything wrong with that.)

And this is not an 180 degree ideological switcheroo in which Spectrum celebrates the commodifidation of Christmas by corporate retailers hoping to fatten their CEO bonuses.

Nope. I’m just a little behind in my Christmas shopping and got to thinking about Adventists who have their own businesses. I asked the Spectrum team to share as well. Many of these small business owners are part of the Spectrum community, and a few advertise with us, although no one paid for this post. We just thought it would be interesting to make a list. . .in case Santa needs a little help when he hits the Adventist ghettos.

And, of course, feel free to add your own recommendations and links in the comments section.

One of my favorites is the sometimes Spectrum writer who owns the perfectly quirky children’s store, The Pajama Squid.

The Pajama Squid is a children’s store that carries a wide variety of quality toys, clothing and books. The unique handmade wooden and plush toys from the US, France and the Netherlands will encourage your child’s imagination with their exaggerated features and colors, and also have a social responsibility, in that several of the brands benefit mothers and children overseas in countries such as India and Morocco.

Draper Valley Vineyard , which makes non-alcoholic premium juices, is offering a 20% discount for the holidays.

Draper Valley Vineyard™ is dedicated to the production of a pure grape juice. Our all natural grape juices are made from the finest wine varietal grapes selected and picked at the precise peak of their flavor. All of our pure grape juices are cold pressed, sterile filtered and bottled under meticulously sterile conditions without fermentation and contain no alcohol.

As someone sick of every variety of Martinelli’s, I’ve enjoyed being able to try Draper Valley’s varietals.

Jared Wright sent this one in and it’s a good one. I own two shirts from them and have purchased another for a friend. If you know Adventists, and especially if you need to get something for high school/college age relatives, you might check out 1844.com

Why? Because everyone needs a I ♥ Haystacks t-shirt.

While you’re thinking of shirts, you might check out Spectrum’s prophecy t-shirt too.

Thanks to Carlyn Ferrari, both Pacific Press and the Review and Herald have been good supporters of Spectrum this year and they have been producing some interesting material of late.

Here is the product page for the Review and Herald.

And here is the product page for Pacific Press.

And, of course, thanks to Rachel Davies, be sure to check out the Adventist Development and Relief Agency’s Really Useful Gift Catalog online.
