Taken from PUC Announce Email:

On July 17, 2009, the Pacific Union College Board of Trustees announced that Dr. Heather J. Knight has been named the new president of Pacific Union College. She will begin her role as president in mid-September, in time for the new academic year.

“Dr. Knight comes to Pacific Union College with over 20 years of experience in higher education and a deep respect from the higher education community. From her work at the University of the Pacific to Andrews University, Dr. Knight has a proven track record of leading institutions to success, and we are thrilled to have her at PUC,” said Dr. Ricardo Graham, PUC board chair.

Dr. Knight has a Ph.D. from Stanford University in English Literature. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Oakwood College and a master’s degree in English from Loma Linda University.

Dr. Knight is currently the provost at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, where she has served since 2006. During her three years at Andrews, Dr. Knight successfully developed and implemented a strategic plan and brought financial stability to the campus.

Prior to serving at Andrews, Dr. Knight was the associate provost at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, for faculty development, diversity, and special programs. She was also a tenured professor in the department of English at the University of the Pacific. In 1995, Dr. Knight became the youngest faculty member to receive the University’s distinguished Eberhardt Teacher/Scholar Award.

Dr. Knight is married to Dr. Norman Knight, senior pastor of the Berean South Bend and Dowagiac Faith Fellowship Adventist Churches. Norman is also an adjunct professor of homiletics at Andrews University. The Knights have eight children and a grandchild on the way.
