Michael Jackson’s Doctor Had Ties to LLU

From National Public Radio:

The physician who was with pop superstar Michael Jackson at the time of his death is being identified as Dr. Conrad Robert Murray.

TMZ.com is reporting that the car police impounded was registered to Murray’s sister. The website is also reporting that the doctor was living with Jackson at the rented house where the musical legend lived.

The American Board of Medical Specialties directory indicates that Murray was an internist or specialist in internal medicine and that he was born in 1953 in Grenada. He received his medical degree in 1989 from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn.

According to the directory, Murray interned at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, Calif. and did a cardiology residency there as well. He did additional training in interventional cardiology at the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson and the University of California in San Diego.

In interventional cardiology, physicians thread catheters up into the heart in order to perform angioplasties or other cardiac procedures.

It may just be coincidence that Murray had an interest in interventional cardiology or it may indicate that Jackson had a heart issue of some sort. Hard to know though the autopsy may provide further details
