From the Sligo site:
Stephen Chavez is a mover and shaker. He chairs our Sligo Church board, leads our Earliteens, and is an associate head elder. On the side, he is managing editor of the Adventist Review. Pray that you will be moved and that you will be shaken in a powerful way as Steve brings us a message titled: “The Prayer of Last Resort,” asking the question: “What happens when God does not answer our prayers?” You know he will be speaking from deep inner resources as he challenges us to wrestle with God in prayer.
I posted a news item on this guy awhile ago and he's still going strong. . .at least with the news stories.
Author Philip Yancey talks about his writerly approach to the big questions of Christianity. An interview with Dean Nelson of Point Loma Nazarene University in their series: Writer's Symposium By The Sea, April 2008.
Dr. Stanley Hauerwas, a widely acclaimed Christian theologian, discusses his understanding of prayer.
Sojourners' interview with Hauerwas:
Editor's Note: Today we're introducing a new series on the blog, a series about the challenges of raising loving, spiritually-aware kids from Michael Bennie who blogs about his experiences parenting his three young daughters (a 5-yr-old and 3-yr-old twins).
I’ve always appreciated Philip Yancey’s books because he writes as a pilgrim, not a pastor. Not that I don’t appreciate pastoral perspectives, but often they seem to skip over the doubts, questions, and laments that I have.
Just a reminder that this month's book club selection is Prayer by Philip Yancey.
