1. An interim CEO has been named for Loma Linda University Medical Center. Kerry Heinrich will oversee the six hospitals that make up the Medical Center while a permanent replacement for Ruthita Fike, who resigned, is found.

2. Eric Walsh, Public Health Director for the city of Pasadena, California, and also associate pastor of the Altadena SDA Church, has resigned his city position, after being placed on administrative leave. He was being investigated after recordings of sermons surfaced, in which Walsh seems to make homophobic and polarizing statements about gay people, Muslims and other groups. Walsh has accepted a job in Georgia.

3. Alan Reinach, executive director of the Church State Council of the Pacific Union Conference, which focuses on religious liberty cases, recently served as adviser to Corona’s Crossroads Christian Schools after the evangelical Christian school fired 11 employees for their religious beliefs. “‘Religious institutions have a right to dismiss employees because of their religious beliefs, even if the employees’ duties are secular in nature,’ he said.”
