Three Angles News – February 5, 2014

1. Kettering College has named Nate Brandstater as the college’s new president, replacing Alex Bryan. Brandstater comes to Kettering College in Kettering, Ohio, from La Sierra University in California, where he served as associate professor of chemistry and accreditation liaison officer.

2. Volcanic eruptions from Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra have prompted Seventh-day Adventist schools in West Indonesia to provide shelter to many displaced villagers. Three Adventist churches in the area have escaped destruction.

3. The city of Loma Linda has received a “B” rating from the 2013 American Lung Association’s State of Tobacco Control report for California because of the city’s lack of controlling tobacco sales. The grade of “A” was awarded to eighteen other California cities. (Loma Linda was the top-ranked city in San Bernardino County, however.)
