1. 18-year-old Eduardo Marmolejo has been sentenced to 35 years without parole after he pleaded guilty to killing the principal of SDA Memphis Junior Academy, Suzette York, in 2011.

2. A majority (62.5%) of evangelical leaders in the US say they oppose direct US military intervention in Syria, according to a survey by the National Association of Evangelicals this week.

3. Malawi’s president, Joyce Banda, spoke at Malawi Adventist University’s graduation ceremony last Sunday; she congratulated the graduates, and said that her presence demonstrated her commitment to investing in human capital.
