Walla Walla University issued a press release yesterday announcing that their search for a president would continue.

Today, July 1, the Walla Walla University Board of Trustees reviewed the Presidential Search Committee’s nomination of Alex Bryan as president and elected not to approve the recommendation.

In a prepared statement Torkelsen expressed the board’s appreciation and affirmation for Bryan’s continuing pastoral leadership and ministry at the University Church. Bryan is senior pastor of the University Church.

The board also approved a motion to ask the Presidential Search Committee to name potential candidates for interim president while the committee continues its work in seeking a candidate for president.

“Our trustees take their responsibility to the ongoing excellence of our institution very seriously. I’m confident we are proceeding intentionally, yet carefully, seeking what is ultimately the best long-term choice for our university. I urge each of our Northwest member to keep this important process in prayer,” Torkelsen’s statement said.
