Video: Woman Pastors 7000 Member Adventist Church in China

Hao Ya Jie leads the 7000 member Beigwan Adventist church in China. The church started with 9 members in 1985 and now has 7,000 members with 117 satellite churches.

On May 18, 2009, Adventist News Network reported:

Hao Ya Jie, 46, is the pastor of the Beiguan Seventh-day Adventist Church in Shenyang, China. More than half of Adventist pastors in China are women.

This video was taken during a visit by Pastor Kwon Johng Haeng, Adventist Mission Director for Northern Asia-Pacific Division.

Some time ago I was sitting in what quite possibly was the most boring church service I have ever been in. (No, I won’t tell you where I was.) There couldn’t have been more than 50 people in the sanctuary, and I’m being generous. We sang no less than 5 hymns. All hymns were sung in a dry, slow manner. The sermon seemed uninspired, barely prepared, and was presented with no sense of conviction. It felt like we were in church for three hours. We were in church for about 70 minutes.
