Bruce Feiler (video) Why Moses is America’s True Founding Father

Bruce Feiler, author of the Times bestseller Walking the Bible, argues in his new book, America’s Prophet, that Moses is central to the American story.

The USA Today reports:

“Moses was more important to the Puritans, more meaningful to the Revolution, more impactful during the Civil War, and more inspiring to the immigrants’ rights, civil rights, and women’s rights movements of the last century, than Jesus,” Feiler writes.

“Moses raises questions of who is your real authority. He raises the dream of a Promised Land on Earth and escape from oppression. He’s also about falling short. He never reaches that Promised Land himself. But he builds a nation of law” to go forward without him, Feiler says.
