Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our precious father and husband. Shortly after midnight on Saturday, December 20, Samuele Bacchiocchi breathed his last breath. During his last breaths, he was surrounded by his three children and wife of 47 years (today would have been his 47th wedding anniversary), and we read together 2 Timothy 4:6-8: "For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." This quote sums up the life of a man who sacrificed practically all of his time and energy to help others understand the Bible more fully, even up to end as he gave his last seminar in England the Sabbath before being taken to the emergency room.
We are very grateful that we could all be together at this time and believe that it is fitting that God chose the Sabbath day, the day that he loved most and spent his life preaching and writing about, to be the day that he entered into his final earthly rest. We take comfort in the fact that the next time he will open his eyes he will see his Lord and Savior, and that we will be reunited with him in heaven. His incredible journey here on earth has come to an end, but may we continue his legacy until Jesus returns!
The funeral services will be held this coming Sabbath, December 27, at 4:00 pm at the Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan.
We would like to thank each and every one of you again for the incredible outpouring of love and prayers that have provided us with supernatural peace and comfort during this difficult time. We are privileged to be a part of this extraordinary community of faith.
If any of you would like to send a message to the Bacchiocchi Family, we encourage you to send it to any of the following addresses of his children: Loretta Bacchiocchi, at loretta_bacchiocchi@fhchs.edu, Gianlucca Bacchiocchi at bacchiocchi@gmail.com, or Daniel Bacchiocchi at dbacch@sbcglobal.net.
May God richly bless you all,
The Bacchiocchi Family

We will miss his enthusiasm, his warmth, his love of his Redeemer, his story telling. and his positive witness. There were joy bells where ever he went. Tom
Rest in Peace

I will pray that he is spending this Lord's Day in heaven in the company of the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.

Isn't it wonderful we know so much and yet so little about the Great Unknown. This we both know, Salvation is in Jesus Christ alone and every day is His. Your prayers are appreciate and I am sure heard in the proper venue. Thank you for your ecumenical attitude, You are a Pope John XXIII in the making. Tom
Dear Samuelle, thanks for your work and PhD thesis from Gregoriana.
But special thanks for your love for believers who were struggling whit practical faith in their life's.
You and your work's will live on in our hearts.
From Hamlet: "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
Yes, yes, I know--but it's still a beautiful thought.
Que nosso Deus conforte a família de servo de Cristo e que sua seputura seja guardada até aquele grande dia do Nosso Senhor Jesus.
Maranata, vem Senhor Jesus!!!
Ps. Dr. Samuele Bacchiocchi
First Breath
From Adam, Eve, Abel and Seth
To the last Saint to sleep in death
We will inhale our first resurrection after death breath together
And we will sing the resurrection song of the redeemed where Jesus is forever
Maranatha ... Amen
See YOU Samuele Bacchiocchi At The Resurrection...

I respect an Adventist who was broad enough to study at a premier Catholic university, and for making a big splash in evangelical circles over his Sabbath book.

May I wish the Bacchiocchi family special presence of the Holy Spirit in this time of sadness. May this be a time to reflect of the great works he did by the power of the same Spirit of God, and may you keep up the spreading of the Biblical message of the Divine rest as the Champion of that message rests in peace!
We may not know just how precious it is, but 'precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints'.
Samuele's death will indeed bring many souls to know the Saviour, and Heaven will reveal those saved by his continued witness.
Oh, so sad to hear of Samuele's death. He was a man full of life and passion. I look forward to seeing him in heaven. May he safely sleep until Jesus comes to wake him and take us all home.
The church has lost a true 'sola scriptura' theologian and biblical scholar. Though many of us have disagreed with him on many occasion, you cannot deny that he loved his God, God's Word and his church. He followed the bible where he felt it lead him regardless of whether it agreed with the liberals or the conservatives of the church and he took flak from both sides on many occasion. May God uphold and strengthen the Bacchiocchi family at this time.

WHY ADMITTED AND HONORED DESPITE APPARENTLY CONTRARIAN TOPIC?
For several decades I've wondered why the Catholic church admitted him and how they dealt with his dissertation that I can't imagine is flattering to the sponsoring institution. How do you speak truth to power and get that power to esteem you most highly? I remain baffled by the success of this Daniel-in-the-lions'-denesque approach and would be delighted if an informed party could enter the conversation to address this for me.
[During my due diligence to find the answer, I've read the Adventist Review article, the Wikipedia entry, heard him speak a couple times, and so have some clues but nothing definitive. I concede that I have not read the dissertation, in part, because I suspect that it's in a foreign language so an appropriate response might beg the question. If so, explain why it's appropriate to do so. While I think that the question is clear some may deem it obfuscatory...it is not intentionally so. I presume that to a respondent qualified to answer the question, it's clear enough. If it's ambiguous, rather than seek clarification, please provide responses to the various possible interpretations, tedious though that may be. Thank you very much for your kind consideration.]
Happy Sabbath!
JTS-The Roman Catholic Church has no problem with someone wanting to
explore its relation to the Sabbath to Sunday question. The RC church has
always admitted to changing it.
