Video | A Conversation with Philip Yancey

Author Philip Yancey talks about his writerly approach to the big questions of Christianity. An interview with Dean Nelson of Point Loma Nazarene University in their series: Writer's Symposium By The Sea, April 2008.

He talks about growing up in a racist church, a letter from a Seventh-day Adventist, as well as his writing life and going out to eat with Bono.

Yancey is the favorite writer for me, and millions of others. This was a very revealing video. He was so open and sharing with his difficulty of writing, especially how much he drew on from Shakespeare, and the Russian writers who understand human nature like no others.

How many of our seminarians are well acquainted with these famous writers? They are a wealth of knowledge on human nature, as well as perfect writing examples.

I enjoyed this so much, having just completed his book Prayer: Does It Make a Difference?

I enjoyed it so much I researched other interviews available and watched Eugene Peterson, translator of The Message, discuss his writing and writing life.

Thank you so much for this wonderful interview.
