ATLANTA: Ray Dabrowski, outgoing director of communication for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, gave his final press briefing early this morning.

Ted Wilson (pictured, right) received an early boost to his presidency today when delegates voted through plans for an unambiguous statement of the church’s belief in a literal six-day creation.

A Win for Women's Ordination

The main topic up for debate this morning was the ordination of deaconesses. The issue of the ordination of female pastors having been kept off the conference agenda, this discussion was designed to provide a less controversial way of advancing women in the church.

Age, Ethnicity and the New General Conference Vice Presidents

The nine vice presidents approved by delegates yesterday represented a pragmatic mix of continuity and change. Five of the outgoing vice presidential team were returned for another five years; four were new.

ATLANTA: Ted N. C. Wilson’s election today brings to an end the 11-year tenure of Jan Paulsen. Wilson becomes the 17th individual to hold Adventism’s highest office
