Romanos 8 en su contexto

Francken, Last Judgement.jpg

Romans 8 in context

Francken, Last Judgement.jpg

We are about half way through the Book of Romans. I hope by now we are all realizing again, maybe for the first time, how central and clear Paul’s message is. Yet, we have also seen those issues where Christianity has split itself, even in Paul’s day down to ours! Something about Romans brings out the worse and best in us.

Spiritual and Physical Fitness

Our author for this week summarized brilliantly one of the core truths of our personal universes—we are marvelously made by a Wise Creator in such a way that a profound, almost mysterious relation exists between our minds and bodies. Ellen White observed: “It cannot be to the glory of God for His children to have sickly bodies or dwarfed minds.” (Testimonies, vol 3. 486.)

El Hermano Balaam proyecta una sombra larga

Rembrandt_Balaam's_Ass.jpg

Brother Balaam Casts a Long Shadow

Rembrandt_Balaam's_Ass.jpg

Every child who has had any Christian background knows the story of this strange, “mad prophet” and the embarrassing tongue-lashing his friendly donkey gave him. For too many, though, as the years go by, that’s all the story of Balaam they remember.

But Brother Balaam is so much in all of us — to ignore Balaam is to ignore areas in each of our lives that need attention. Hardly a person alive has not had to struggle with the challenges that Balaam struggled with. Many go on and play out Balaam’s life drama. Some play the same game but withdraw before the game overpowers them.

Living as Children of God

childrenofgod.jpg

Our week’s lesson title has it right! John understood God and His plan of salvation primarily in family terms; Paul in more legal terms. The phrase, “sons of God” (1 John 3: 1, KJV), should be translated “children of God” because the Greek word is τεκηα (children) and not υιος (sons).

Fe
