Salvadorian Immigrant Brought to Adventist Hospital after Collapse in ICE Prison

On February 10, while in a Texas detention facility, 27-year-old Sara Beltran Hernandez had a seizure and collapsed. She was rushed to Texas Health Huguley Hospital, a Seventh-day Adventist facility in Fort Worth.

Second Installment in Adventist LGBT+ Short Film Series "Outspoken" Released Today

Daneen Akers and Stephen Eyer released the second installment today in their ten-part series of short documentaries titled “Outspoken.” The films feature the stories of LGBT+ Adventists.

As previously reported, this is the third major project for the husband-and-wife team that deals with the intersection of sexuality, gender, and Adventism.

Dr. Dwight K. Nelson, lead pastor at Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University, scrapped the sermon he had been writing to address white privilege from the pulpit.

A Sermon, an Apology, and a Rallying Cry at Andrews University

As part of its Black History Month celebration, Andrews University invited Jaime Kowlessar, senior pastor at Dallas City Temple Adventist Church, to be guest speaker for Black History Weekend (Feb. 9-11, 2017). Kowlessar’s first sermon was during Andrews’ mandatory Thursday chapel on February 9. Shortly after chapel, complaints began to filter in to administration concerning the topic.
