1. Peggy Wallace Kennedy, daughter of former Alabama Governor George Wallace who was famous for his “Segregation today, segregation tomorrow!” political stance, embraced Karen Lowery, daughter of Civil Rights icon Reverend Joseph Lowery, after they each received awards at Oakwood University Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sabbath, February 8. That hug seemed to embody the racial reconciliation only dreamed of 50 years ago, said those who attended the event.

2. An SDA pastor and primary school principal, David Smith of Goodwood, east Tobago, has been charged with multiple sexual offenses against some of his students. The alleged acts occurred within one year, involving students who are between ten and twelve years old.

3. Kenesha Bennett, a senior education major at Oakwood University, recently competed in the Jeopardy! College Championship and Black College Quiz, featuring students from historically black colleges and universities around the US.
