Top 12 of 2012: Conversing with Samuel Koranteng-Pipim

The name “Samuel Koranteng-Pipim” appeared in several Spectrum headlines this year. Articles such as “Receiving the Bird: Samuel Koranteng-Pipim Seeks Rebaptism This Sabbath” shared updates on the Adventist theologian and speaker’s “moral fall.” Perhaps you also read Martin Weber’s post, “Healing the Wound of God’s Daughters: A Response to the Michigan Conf. President’s Letter,” after Elder Jay Gallimore wrote a review of the conference’s dealings with Pipim.

But Spectrum provides more than just Adventist news updates. To know more about the figure at the center of these stories, take a look at past journal articles featuring Pipim.

In 1997, Pipim, as an Andrews University doctoral student, responded to Charles Scriven’s article “Embracing the Spirit” (begins on p. 38).

In 2003, Alden Thompson initiated an exchange between the two that became a Spectrum article, “Conversations with the Other Side.” Pipim disagreed with Thompson’s published views on inspiration, arguing for a literal belief in biblical historical details (begins on p. 54).
