Here are your 2015 GC Session theme choices

After two months of work, here’s what the General Conference Session Theme Committee has come up with—in their words, their “three favorites.” In prepartion for the San Antonio, Texas, meetings, “each statement has been studied for its inspirational qualities, appeal to believers, and communication potential outside of the Adventist Church.” I think that these choices are uncreative, uninspiring and don’t speak to our times or to Seventh-day Adventist mission. If your slogan needs an exclamation mark, it’s not inspiring.

  • Arise, Shine—Our Lord Is Coming!
  • We Still Have This Hope!
  • Great Day Coming!

Spectrum received the email that the committee sent to employees of the world headquarters inviting only General Conference employees to vote on the 2015 theme. They state:

As an employee of the world headquarters, you are invited to respond to these three possible theme statements by clicking on the link below.  The link will take you to a very brief (1 minute) survey where you may register your preference.  Please select one of the options there as your favorite, and help the Session Theme Committee decide which choice would best serve the Adventist family and the wider community.

Apparently the rest of us tithe paying Adventists aren’t qualified. It’s great to see top-down planning in action. Great Day Coming, indeed! Here’s the link to the survey, at least they included a fourth option: I don’t believe any of these options would work.

And feel free to offer your serious and not so serious ideas in the comment section below. Perhaps the rest of Adventism can come up with an interesting theme or two in less than two months.
