Update: Spectrum Global Community Campaign

expand_conversation_sidebar

For several months, a banner at the top of our web page has invited readers to join our Global Community Campaign.  Many of you have, and on behalf of the Spectrum Board of Directors, I want to say thank you to all who have participated.

Already, the increased funding has made it possible for us to do more reporting. Sending Larry Geraty to South Africa to report on the meeting convened there by the General Conference was made possible by gifts to the campaign. We plan to have coverage of the upcoming meeting in Germany about how World War I affected Adventism, too.

We will be offering several journalism internships beginning this summer as a result of one of the grants that we received. Those are just a few of the ways in which we are endeavoring to expand the conversation. We are also at work on technical changes to the commenting system.

Just how well have we done with our campaign?

As of April 14, 2014, there were 231 individuals who had contributed. We had received grants from two foundations, and with $207,179, we had reached 83% of our $250,000 goal. We are thrilled with the numbers, but we don’t want to stop now. June 30th, the end of the fiscal year, will mark the end of this campaign, so our goal is within reach.

For those who have not yet contributed, there is still time to be part of this grass roots effort to expand the conversation within our community. Please consider making a gift today by clicking here.
