‘Two and a Half Men’ Star Angus Jones Converts to Adventism
A star of Two and a Half Men, Angus T. Jones who plays the nephew (the half man part) of the late Charlie Sheen character has become a Seventh-day Adventist after searching for a meaningful church experience that included a “black gospel” worship experience.
Jones has been visiting with a Bible worker, watching some videos by an end times/conspiracy theory ministry and is now attending the Valley Crossroads Seventh-day Adventist church in San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. He was recently baptized after graduating from high school. In the videos below Jones discusses how learning about the Adventist doctrine on hell caught his attention. Now he loves the Sabbath, is learning about the Sanctuary message and is attending evangelism classes on Mondays and Thursdays. He recently shared his testimony for the Voice of Prophecy and also did worship at the Adventist Media Center.
As these Gawker, Los Angeles Times, TMZ, and Deadline Hollywood stories note, Angus, who makes over $300,000 an episode, is also publicly telling people to stop watching Two and a Half Men because it is “filth.”
The British Daily Mail has mutiple stories up (“Revealed, the evangelists who gave spiritual guidance to Two and A Half Men star Angus T Jones before his bizarre religious rant” — “CBS sources admit they are trying to ‘figure out what’s going on’ with the young star”) that reveal that this media event needs to be treated with care by Seventh-day Adventist leaders. Adventism is now being represented to millions of people by a brand new believer and some people with fringe theological agendas who are calling Angus Jones a new soldier for truth. As the Daily Mail also reports, Jones’ mother has stated: “I’m concerned he’s being exploited by the church.” Adventist communication leaders should develop a public relations strategy for its official media that avoids exploitation and celebritization and that makes sure that correct information about Adventism gets reported as this story develops.
