Three Angles News—Friday, Nov. 23, 2012

1. The Seventh-day Adventist church has called for December 1 to be a day to pray for the release of Antonio dos Anjos Monteiro, a pastor imprisoned in Togo. Here’s the original local news report from March 2012, and here is an April news report by the Togolese church leaders and the president of the Sahel Union Mission denouncing the detention. According to the Yearbook, Antonio dos Anjos Monteiro directed the union mission departments of Family Ministries, Sabbath School and Personal Ministries as well as Evangelism. He also sat on the union mission executive committee and ran its Global Mission initiative.

3. Finally, because it is a day dedicated to mass consumerism, here is a recent post on Pissed Consumer by someone in Texas.

Purchased books from the Ministerial Department of the Seventh-day Adventist church. On their invoice they stated that the books would be shipped UPS and I was charged $12.49 for shipping. The books arrived via the United States Postal Service via Media Mail and they paid $2.89. While I am okay with a small variance in the postage price I believe that this was deceptive as they claimed to charge for one service and then used another. My subsequent attempts to contact them regarding this were ignored.
