Colorado Elementary Students Collect Donations for Needy Babies. Students in grades one through eight at Lighthouse Seventh-day Adventist Christian School in Fort Morgan, Colorado, participated in a spring service project that the principal Jodie Aakkolabeled a "Baby Care-a-Thon."Aakko developed the idea, having the students visit local grocery stores, asking customers to purchase items for babies, and then donating them to the students. "Our students stood at the doors with smiles to greet customers, hand them a cart, and tell them about our Baby Care-A-Thon," Aakko said. "By the end of just one fast hour, our tables were full with baby items." The students took their collections to Rising Up, a community agency serving needy families. From Fort Morgan Times, “Lighthouse SDA Christian School holds 'Baby Care-a-Thon'.”

Kenyan Pastor, Accused of Swindling Community Members, Found Dead. Seventh-day Adventist Kenyan pastor Nicholus Kibagendi, who went missing a month ago, was found dead, his body decapitated and decomposing. According to a local paper, Kibagendi had swindled money from politicians, businessmen, and even his congregation. Kibagendi lied to his victims that he would put the money in a mercury venture that would bring instant mega profits. The profits were never realized. The pastor disappeared after leaving his home while answering a call from an unidentified person. His wife and police confirmed it was his body. From Tuko Kenya, “Disturbing details emerge of the popular pastor who was found murdered.”

$1 million in Equipment Stolen from Jamaica Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Kitson Town Seventh-day Adventist Church in St. Catherine, Jamaica, was robbed by thieves who stole equipment valued at almost $1 million. The robbers broke a window to gain entry to the church building and cut a security grille to enter the room used to store audio and video equipment and television sets, all of which were taken. Javian Hutton, church pastor, expressed disappointment and concurred with his members that the church was “desecrated.” The church runs the Kitson Town Adventist Evening Institute where teachers volunteer to help give young people a second chance. It also has a community outreach initiative to aid residents. Church leader Paul Beckford said the robbery demonstrates that criminals have no regard for the church's benevolence; however, “the work of the Lord will continue.” Beckford said the theft has “crippled” the church's ability to take the gospel to the streets. Dwayne Wellington, another leader, urged the congregation to pray for the thieves. From Jamaica Observer, “Thieves hit Kitson Town SDA Church.”
