Giving Thanks for All Who Gave on Giving Tuesday

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We have surpassed our Giving Tuesday goal of $10,000 with the help of 47 contributors. As of 11:00pm, Pacific Time, we raised $12,726. What fun it has been, watching the donations come in from friends near and far. Spectrum exists to create community, and today it felt like we were all pulling together.

Thank you to Jack in Washington, Elaine in California, Rob in Australia, Alisa in Michigan, Les in Maryland, Elmer in Pennsylvania, Harold in California, Richard and Norma in California, Robert in Guam, Charles in Arizona, David in Australia, Richard in Missouri, Marianne in Germany, Brenton from Kansas, Carmen from Alabama, Jana of Washington, Gil from California, Jeff from California, Juli in Idaho, Mark in Ohio, and Gayle in West Virginia. Thank you to everyone who participated.

We received $25 gifts and $3000 donations. We are grateful for each and every one. We sent an ambitious goal of 50 donors. We had 47, and that is what gave it that community feeling. We pulled together.

Your support gives us needed resources as we make our plans for San Antonio. For instance, we just received a quote from a hotel for our 11-day stay in San Antonio for $8470. So today we could say that we paid for the hotel bill, as well as covering some of the travel costs for our reporting team. Thank you for being part of our team, our community.

“Together We Can Make It Happen” is a phrase I learned at my alma mater La Sierra University. And today we did make it happen.

Religion Can Be Fun

Some time ago I was sitting in what quite possibly was the most boring church service I have ever been in. (No, I won’t tell you where I was.) There couldn’t have been more than 50 people in the sanctuary, and I’m being generous. We sang no less than 5 hymns. All hymns were sung in a dry, slow manner. The sermon seemed uninspired, barely prepared, and was presented with no sense of conviction. It felt like we were in church for three hours. We were in church for about 70 minutes.
